I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

A New Year’s Post: What Matters Most

January 2, 2013

In cleaning out my office at work today, preparing to begin my new student teaching adventure, I found an old notebook.

Inside the notebook was a list.

On the list was a bullet point.

It might as well have been a ton of bricks. I felt that way as I read it.

“*Maybe visit Nanny on Sunday.”

 —

The other items on the list of mundane tasks didn’t matter. Editing, cleaning, chores, meetings. They are all less than significant.

What matters is my priorities were screwed up, pardon the term.

Visiting my Nanny should have been my first priority. I’d give anything to go back to that week,, throw my schedule out the window, and rush to see her.

Because now I know I’ll never have that chance again.

Friends, followers, fellow photographers. When planning your goals and resolutions for this year, remember the things that are most important.

It’s not that I think marketing, blogging calendars, and efficient workflows aren’t important. In fact, that’s what I originally intended for this New Year’s post to be about.

It’s the fact that our time is limited and our families are precious.

My resolution this year is to keep the ones who matter most as my top priority (my husband will be thankful for this).

My business goals will come later this week.

Happy New Year, everyone.

Thanks, Char, for capturing these images for our little family.
