I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

For Photographers: Client Meetings

March 9, 2015

People look forward to visiting the South simply to experience the “Southern Hospitality” we’re famous for. It’s a tradition I was raised on. If company is expected at our house, you can guarantee I’m going to feed them something…it’s a habit I picked up from my sweet Mama!

When I first started my business, Matt and I lived in a tiny, one bedroom apartment with Thea, and the space wasn’t conducive to client meetings. While searching for our house, one of the qualifications I was searching for was a room capable of hosting people. The front living room in our home has big windows, natural lights, and has become a meeting place for both our personal use and for my business. We’ve hosted Holiday gatherings, my monthly book club, and potential client meetings here for the last year and a half and I’ve absolutely loved it!

There are several reasons why I enjoy hosting clients in our home:

1) It allows me to control the atmosphere. People remember sensory experiences, both positive and negative. In this space, I can control the smells, tastes, and sounds. I have favorite Pandora stations I will play, always make sure there is either coffee or champagne depending on what my clients prefer, I light candles and really work hard to set an aesthetically pleasing mood.

2) Hosting my clients in our home helps them to get to know me a little better and on a more personal level. The relationships I build with my clients are so valuable, so this is really important to me and the way I run my business. This also helps to establish trust, which is important when potential clients are looking to book their wedding vendors.

3) It allows me to share products and galleries with my clients without having to tote them with me to a different meeting space.

4) Welcoming my clients into our home is another way for me to serve and love on them! It’s an important part of my client experience. And while sometimes clients are out of town and I can’t meet everyone here, I love to host here as often as possible.

I also wanted to take a moment to share about how incredible my clients are! At a meeting with one of my clients yesterday, my sweet bride, Katie, brought this cute box and “proposed,” asking me to be her wedding photographer. Isn’t this the sweetest?! There were happy tears and hugs and I felt such overwhelming joy and gratitude for my clients and this incredible job I have been given! Nikki Santerre Photography_Virginia Fine Art Wedding Photographer_Client Meetings_0005
