I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

Let Them Be Little

August 13, 2013

I will never be one of those photographers who can get a child to sit perfectly in front of a cotton candy colored backdrop, pleading with them to say cheese and bribing them with promises of treats. Some people can do this type of child photography so incredibly well. With cheesecloths and angel wings and birds’ nests. I have tried it, and have learned I am just not very good at it, it’s not my style and that is okay.

I think it’s the teacher in me. The part of me that knows as children, they need to be allowed to run uninhibited. To be allowed to use their hands, and wander, and explore, and get dirty. Because it’s only when these things happen that they will truly marvel at the world around them. That’s when the magic happens. The moment tiny hands first find a dandelion. The second small, stumbling feet first find solid ground and lead them back safely into their Mama’s arms.

The part of me that knows we need to let them be little.

So instead of coaxing Hayden and Hadleigh during their birthday session, I decided to just let them be, and capture them as they currently are. The way their parents want to remember them at this age.

Remember the way they cling, because they won’t always. 2013-08-09_0001 2013-08-09_0002Remember the way she climbs on anything her tiny hands can reach. 2013-08-09_0003 2013-08-09_0004 2013-08-09_0005 2013-08-09_0006 2013-08-09_0007 2013-08-09_0008 2013-08-09_0009 2013-08-09_0010Remember that little nugget of a ponytail. 2013-08-09_0011 2013-08-09_0012 2013-08-09_0013 2013-08-09_0014 2013-08-09_0015 2013-08-09_0016 2013-08-09_0017 2013-08-09_0018 2013-08-09_0019Remember how the simplest things fascinated her. 2013-08-09_0020 2013-08-09_0021 2013-08-09_0022 2013-08-09_0023 2013-08-09_0024 2013-08-09_0025 2013-08-09_0026 2013-08-09_0027 2013-08-09_0028 2013-08-09_0029 2013-08-09_0030 2013-08-09_0031 2013-08-09_0032 2013-08-09_0033 2013-08-09_0034 2013-08-09_0035 2013-08-09_0036 2013-08-09_0037Remember the way they show love when their little. 2013-08-09_0038 2013-08-09_0039 2013-08-09_0040Remember the way she would crawl after her sister wherever she would go. 2013-08-09_0041 2013-08-09_0042 2013-08-09_0043 2013-08-09_0044 2013-08-09_0045 2013-08-09_0046 2013-08-09_0047 2013-08-09_00482013-08-09_0049
