There’s something about the first breath of cool, crisp autumn air, or the first scent of a Harvest Yankee Candle. There’s undoubtably also some secret magic in Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe that ignites a fire in my soul, a love of all things relative to the Autumn season. It begins slowly in August when the school supplies swiftly leave the shelves and in their place appear home decor items in shades of mustard and cranberry. September arrives, and with it noticeably cooler temperatures accompanied by a subtle change in the evening light.

This season has me completely enamored with it’s sights and sounds and promises of all good things to come of the last quarter of the year. Business wise, it is a season of Fall weddings, and yes that means it is busy and there is work to be done. Simultaneously, however, it means a time of traditions that I live for. Apple picking and pumpkin carving. Hayrides and trick-or-treaters. Savory suppers by the fireplace at Cracker Barrel with my Mama. Craft shows and coveted time with family, and–my absolute favorite–preparation for the Christmas season.

I’m reminding myself to slow down and be present this fall, because all too soon, it will pass, taking with it all the things I love about this time of year.
