For the past two years, I’ve written a letter to my former self on my birthday. You can read them here and here.
My dear girl,
You’re tired to your core, I know this too well. You’re running yourself ragged chasing dreams, working two jobs, and just trying to be everything to everyone. I’m going to just say the thing you need to hear…it’s okay to let some of it go. The only person expecting you to be perfect is you.
The next year holds some amazing things for your heart. You’re going to make the decision to be really intentional in your relationships, and it’s going to be such a blessing. You will also spend more time in The Word than ever before in your life, and just you wait and see how The Gospel will change your perspective. Some long awaited peace is coming your way, friend.
The World is telling you all about the things you think you need, while there is a conflict in your heart to chase things that are bigger than you. Always choose bigger, because, sweet girl, that’s the thing about this world…it’s never been about you.
A dear friend will give you some of the best advice this year. Hold your business with an open hand instead of a clenched fist so that God can have His way. Take this advice and apply it to your whole life, love. His plan will be better than yours every time. And when you accept that, your heart will be filled with peace instead of angst and gratitude instead of bitterness.
