I still remember the day Megan and Patrick announced to the group they were expecting.

It was also the first day I met this beautiful couple. Matt and I made the trip to Maryland to attend a Labor Day cook out at their house. Matt and I had just recently started dating, and Patrick was one of his college roommates (more of those stories later), so I was excited to be introduced to these friends Matt thought so highly of.

Megan was wearing this printed flower pattern dress and I overheard her make a comment about starting to show. I looked up and noticed they were passing around an ultrasound photo! Even though I had just met them, I knew Patrick and Megan would be amazing parents simply by Patrick’s welcoming nature and Megan’s ability to nurture and put one at ease. Plus, if you see the two of them together, you know they have so much love to give!

Fast forward two years and Ashby is a gorgeous little guy, filled to the brim with his Daddy’s looks and humor, and his Mama’s sweet nature.

I was delighted when Megan text me and asked take some photographs of their precious little family. We elected to meet at Maymont Park so Ashby would have plenty of wide open spaces to run, and laugh, and play. We did all three that day, and more!

Who doesn’t love playing in crisp autumn leaves?

This fella is all boy, brimming with wonder and curiosity.

He was working so hard at this modeling stuff! Water breaks were a must 🙂

Babies and golden light. These are a few of my favorite things…

He has the running thing down to an art. The adults definitely got our fitness on during the session. And Ashby? Yeah, from what I heard he fell asleep the minute his head hit the carseat. 

These two are beautiful, inside and out. We count ourselves blessed to have them as friends.

The sun was lovely, and the people even more so. And we all learned that skittles are magic remedy for baby boo-boos. 🙂
