Since last weeks Good Things/Hard Things post, I’ve spent a lot of time this week being consciously aware of the little things, holding onto the good things and saving up the joy for when I need them for the hard things.
One of my favorite songs right now is Desert Song by Hillsong United. The lyrics at the end of the song say:
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve received I will sow
There is such truth in this in our lives. God promises there will be blessings, but there will also be trials. He fills us up when things are good because He knows that tribulation is coming again, but He wants you to have the blessed assurance that He will always be there to overcome.

This Week’s Hard Things:
– Making time to read the bible shouldn’t be a hard thing, but it is really difficult to carve out specific time in my day for this. It is something I’m trying to improve on, and have slightly this week! I was able to read the entire book of Philippians last night, so this was a hard thing that turned into a blessing!
-The Pups have been having some issues this week and Rigby had to have surgery this morning. I just received the phone call that he is doing great, so I can’t wait to pick him up and snuggle him this afternoon!
-Accepting the fact that sometimes friendships fade, and that is okay. I have some friends who have moved and are doing great things with their lives, but the lack of contact with them has left me a little sad. I know that ultimate God takes things out of our hands to make room for something else, so I am comforted in knowing they are living the plans He has for their lives and I for mine.
This Week’s Good Things:
-Feeling my niece kick for the first time! Last night, Sister and I made a late night trip to the store to fulfill a pregnancy craving, and after she enjoyed a freshly baked cinnamon roll, little LuLu was doing flips with excitement! It was an indescribable feeling, to feel her swimming around inside my sister’s womb. Life is such an incredible miracle!
-Announcing my news about Once Wed! I am so, so thankful for this opportunity to join some of the best in the fine art community!
-Matt and I are making a conscious effort to not just eat better, but be more sustainable in our food choices and choose to eat locally grown products. We went to Farm to Family for the first time last weekend and got some incredible produce. I have used the items in our “Grab & Go Box” to create new, fresh meals with unique ingredients. While some haven’t turned out wonderful, others have been delicious and I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent in the kitchen (I know, who am I?). It makes me feel connected to my grandmothers in a way, a tradition linked to the past that ties us together.
What was your Good Thing & your Hard Thing for this week? I’d love to know so I can celebrate with you and pray for you!
those blueberries look so good! that first “good thing” is so awesome! so exciting for your sister!
Im so glad I got to see you last weekend! Love you!
Our good thing has been getting one wedding out to one couple, shooting another, and this blog! I guess that’s things… can’t think of anything hard right now… but am nervous about flying to California for whatever reason. I guess it’s been too long since our last flight!
