It has been one of the greatest joys of my life to celebrate the gift of motherhood with the women closest to my heart. My sister has been so incredibly blessed with the most beautiful family. Each time I document them, I am able to stretch my artist’s wings and find new ways to create soft and evocative portraits of motherhood, representing the intersection of both strength and vulnerability.

In a white studio, Jen decided to approach this session dressing herself and her children in white as well. The light filled rooms of the Studio-Hampton Roads allowed for this combination to mirror the delicate season of Cohen’s newborn life. This first image is especially striking, the gentleness of a mother’s kiss on film. It is ethereal and dreamlike, but also nostalgic (I can almost smell Cohen’s hair…if only you could bottle up that sweet newborn smell!).
