I’ve heard it so many times before.
“When I can quit my job, that’s when I’ll know I’ve made it.”
“If only I could just go full time, that’s when I’ll be successful.”
Friends. That is not everyone’s reality. It’s a lie we’ve told ourselves.
That our work isn’t good enough.
That our businesses aren’t “real” until they are our sole income.
That we have nothing to offer anyone, the industry, our clients, if we are still committed to another job.
Let me say something about my other job.
It has allowed me to commit to growing my business for the last two years.
It has provided for my family so I could use all my business resources to invest in my client experience, vendor relationships, education, equipment, and brand presence.
I’m not saying it’s easy. I’m not saying it’s for everyone. I’m just saying it’s possible.
That you can work another job while also growing a business.
That your art can be featured and admired and valued.
Will you work longer hours? Of course.
Will you be exhausted during busy season? Yes.
But what of any value in life has come to you freely and without a price?
This is where you learn to manage your time and your priorities. Set boundaries so your family comes first. Take care of yourself. Allow yourself rest.
And y’all. Just keep hustling. Because that day job just might be the bridge you need to reach the fruition of all your daydreams.
LET US MARCH UPON THAT BRIDGE, my friend. This post is awesome, and just so happened to be what I needed today. xoxo
Moments before reading this his post I was once again thinking how I am simply crazy to be pursuing this life long dream. I love how God gives us that little dose of hope when we need it most. The hope comes through sweet post like yours and calls for partnerships. Oh God is so sweet to give us these little treasur s when we need them most. Thanks for the post!
