Elizabeth and John established the primary focus of their marriage on the day of their wedding, and in following that they have had the most amazing 25 years together.
So, what is it that helps them to keep their vows? That reminds them to choose one another over and over again?
“It’s simple,” John says, “We don’t yell at each other. I told Elizabeth on the wedding day that if it ever gets to the point that we can’t communicate with each other, we need to consider going our separate ways. And ever since, we just talk.”
It’s more about respect than it is about not arguing. It’s about being gentle with one another, and seeking out each other’s hearts in love.
And in these images, you can see it. It’s in the way John reaches for Elizabeth, in the way she laughs while gazing back at him. In the way they talk about their children and grandchildren. In the way they seek God first, and then seek each other.
After 25 years, their love is still present, and it will be here to stay long after this anniversary through the legacy they’re leaving in their family.
