There’s something about the first breath of cool, crisp autumn air, or the first scent of a Harvest Yankee Candle. There’s undoubtably also some secret magic in Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe that ignites a fire in my soul, a love of all things relative to the Autumn season. It begins slowly in August when the school supplies swiftly leave the shelves and in their place appear home decor items in shades of mustard and cranberry. September arrives, and with it noticeably cooler temperatures accompanied by a subtle change in the evening light.
This season has me completely enamored with it’s sights and sounds and promises of all good things to come of the last quarter of the year. Business wise, it is a season of Fall weddings, and yes that means it is busy and there is work to be done. Simultaneously, however, it means a time of traditions that I live for. Apple picking and pumpkin carving. Hayrides and trick-or-treaters. Savory suppers by the fireplace at Cracker Barrel with my Mama. Craft shows and coveted time with family, and–my absolute favorite–preparation for the Christmas season.
I’m reminding myself to slow down and be present this fall, because all too soon, it will pass, taking with it all the things I love about this time of year.
I’d love to share one of my favorite seasonal items with you! Leave a comment telling me what you’re trying to savor this Fall, and one lucky person will receive a Starbucks gift card-good for one Pumpkin Spice Latte, on me! I’d also love to see what it is that you’re savoring, so if you’re on Instagram, hashtag #savortheseason so I can check it out!
This Fall, I plan to slow down and savor the time spent with my family. So often, competing priorities and the daily grind cause me to worry about things that are just not as important. As the cooler weather arrives, I want to watch my daughter play in leaf piles, make new discoveries, pick apples, and find that perfect pumpkin to place on our porch for Halloween. I want to spend quiet, cozy evenings curled up with my husband, drinking mulled wine and thanking God for all of our blessings.
Life is so crazy and fast paced – especially when you’re planning a wedding!
This fall I really want to try and… enjoy my weekends and take a break from planning (I’ll have plenty of time when its freezing this winter to sit inside and plan!)…go apple and pumpkin picking…bake some of my favorite fall treats…enjoy wearing my favorite frye riding boots…and watch the leaves change colors…
I could really go on and on! I love fall!
Can I savor the season with friends that I don’t see enough?? 😉 … Apple picking, pumpkin painting, Hocus Pocus watching and cider sipping. You pick the date 🙂
Fall is my favorite time of year! I chose fall to marry my high school sweetheart oh so many years ago and I love this time of year even more now we’re passing along family traditions to our son: decorating the house for fall, apple picking, visiting Skyline Drive to see nature’s colorful display and, of course, all things Halloween!
