A few weeks ago, a friend asked me what my thoughts were on becoming a husband and wife photography team.
I laughed, loudly.
While there are many people in the industry (like Justin & Mary and Katelyn & Michael) who run their businesses alongside their spouse and excel incredibly at it, I’m just not sure that’s God’s plan for Matt and me. In fact, I’m certain of it. First of all, photography is my dream and my passion, and while yes, Matt likes looking at my images, the thought of trying to work my camera intimidates him. Besides, he has his own passions to pursue (his career for instance, or let’s not forget Duke basketball). In the year since our wedding, we’ve settled into roles in our marriage that I’m extremely happy with. Matt is not only my husband and best friend, but he’s a provider, chauffeur, secret keeper, spiritual leader, Daddy to our Pups, and his most important role…supporter. He encourages me to fearlessly chase my dreams to the ends of the Earth. While sometimes he attends sessions with me to help carry my equipment, or sometimes he gives me pointers on business related things (like setting up expense spreadsheets in excel), the most important role that he has in my business isn’t being my second shooter—it’s being my number one fan.
He was super helpful during this weekend’s river-front bridal portraits! I’m so thankful for him, and his sense of humor! 😉
And of course, a Sneak from our bridal portrait session. I can’t wait to share the rest of these images after the wedding in October. This location is definitely a new favorite!
