I was a huge ball of nerves waiting for the email, but when it came, I was an emotional mix of shocked and excited.
“Congratulations! Your submission has been accepted to Burnett’s Boards via Two Bright Lights.”
My first submission resulted in my first publication. Elation ensued!
It is a hugggeee step, submitting your work to be published. It puts you out there, vulnerable, and you have to prepare yourself to rejection because the odds are not everything you submit is going to be accepted immediately, if at all.
However, if you’re a photographer and feel that you and your work are ready for publication on a wedding blog, I definitely recommend submitting via Two Bright Lights, a platform that allows you to easily upload albums, and submit them to the editors you choose to see your work. I’ve been avoiding Two Bright Lights for months after several photographers recommended it because I was intimidated at the thought of wedding industry professionals judging my work. Once my work was accepted, it was an awesome confidence booster, because it showed me there are other people out there who enjoy my work and believe in me as a professional photographer.
Another amazing publication has picked up one of my recent engagement sessions, and I can’t wait to share that with you very soon!
eeeepppp!!!! so proud of you, friend!!!! you are da bomb-diggity!
