I am usually a creature of habit, however, when an opportunity for spontaneity presents itself, I have to grab a hold of it and hold on for dear life.
On occasion, I get to work with a very special child named Nick.
I’ll pause for reaction. I know. He’s just as cute as he could be!
Today, after picking Nick up from school, we pulled into the neighborhood to find the ice cream man making his rounds through the neighborhood, driving his truck chock-o-block full of frozen glory. Nick heard the bells. He saw the lights. He knew the treasure that vehicle would surely hold.
“Ms. Nikki, please tell me you have some money!”
Luckily (for once in my life) I had some ones sitting in the console. We followed the ice cream man all the way to the threshold of Nick’s driveway. By this time, we were honking and yelling and creating a beautiful ruckus. I stopped the car, keys still in the ignition, and let Nick out of his booster seat. He grabbed the green and ran, waving it shamelessly through the air.
Nick selected the Chocolate Eclair Bar. As for me, you can never go wrong with the classic Strawberry Shortcake Bar. We sat on the stoop, savored our treats, and delighted in the setting sun.
Psalm 118:24 – “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Good faith, and Good Humor, on this Monday afternoon.
