Once annually, usually in the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day, I invite my motherhood clients to celebrate the intimacy and beautiful nuances that exist between them and their children in their current life season. I create a space with intention, one where the littles, no matter what age, feel gentleness and freedom to interact with their sweet mamas. Where mothers, themselves, can come to feel seen, to be present within the images that will become tangible memories for their children. To give these families representation of the relationship that is foundational for their sense of self. Images that illustrate what mamas have known about themselves and their children since the first time they saw each other…that they are made of one another.
This year’s sessions took place at The Highpoint Gallery in Scott’s Addition in Richmond. With the combined genius of Olivera’s floral prowess and stunning floral arches from Paisley and Jade, we created a scene that was as welcoming as it was lovely and feminine. JRD Artshop created a custom painted backdrop for our second set as well. Hair and makeup was provided for our mothers by the incomperable Emily Artistry.
