I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

A Graduation Post

June 13, 2012

I felt a tinge of guilt when I realized I hadn’t written a new post in almost two weeks, however, the remorse was quickly replaced with a little bit of satisfaction. I’ve been busy, and I believe that is a testimony to the full and joyful life I’m currently living.

I finished my Summer School session last week, much to my elation. With that weight off my shoulders, it is full speed ahead to all things wedding. I had a post planned, dedicated strictly to commemorating my success in my four week class, and how the Lord gave me the strength to persevere through the roughest semester in my college career. But then, at the end of our class, our professor gave us her deepest gratitude for rocking the class when she announced we were her first class she had taught since her husband passed this Spring. I was taken aback, and once again reminded that no matter what I may be going through, someone somewhere is experiencing pain much worse. At that moment, I felt the pull to get down on my knees and just thank the Creator for all that he’s given. For the love, and laughter, and time that I’ve been blessed with.

I have mentioned before, and I’ll say it time and time again, that I adore the traditions we have established in our family over the years. Today, we enacted one of my favorites when we gathered at Carini’s Italian Restaurant to celebrate the graduation of my baby brother, Jaime. I feel like he grew from an awkward, chubby, insecure boy to a tall, dapper, confidant young man overnight. There were times when his stubbornness and disdain for school would prevent him from reaching this milestone. But he made it. And on stage today, he rocked that cap and gown when he proudly reached for that diploma.

We, as a family, hope to have given Jaime roots and wings. We’ll always be here when he needs the comfort of home. Likewise we will support and encourage him when it’s time for him to journey out on his own. And if it’s anything like he’s done previously, he’ll be ready with his wit and charm to take over the world.

We’ve added a new member to the family also. This little nugget belongs to proud parents, Melissa and Jaime. And, it has to be said, he and his Aunt Kiki are rather fond of each other 😉

This weekend is the much anticipated Mad Hatter Tea Party. A post of very merry uncommon nonsense will follow!
