I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

Becoming Friends with Your Vendors | Black Creek Flowers & Sweets | Erica & Cameron | First-Year Fridays | Nikki Santerre Photography

January 25, 2013

I met Erica when a friend referred me to her sweet little shop.

At the time, I was a bride looking for one of the things all brides search for.

Gorgeous flowers.

Flowers, I found them. My bridal bouquet? I adored it.

I never expected I would gain a friend in the process.

Erica is one of the most beautiful, kind, gentle souls I have ever had the joy in knowing. Cameron, her husband, compliments her perfectly with his calm nature. Together, they own Black Creek Flowers and Sweets in Mechanicsville. They not only do amazing work, but they love what they do, they love their clients, and most of all, they love each other.

And ya’ll know me and love…it’s kind of my thing!

I love the textures she used in this bouquet, especially in contrast with the wood. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Definitely a favorite!ImageImage

Erica, you have such pretty eyes, girlfriend!ImageImage

Erica goes crazy for a sharp dressed Cam! (Z Z Top, anyone?) ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I was elated when Erica approached me to inquire about taking pictures for their new website. We had the best time together on a mild January afternoon at Cold Harbor Battlefield, just minutes from where Erica grew up. I am so happy to have been able to capture her talent in that beautiful bouquet as their business grows, but also to provide them with timeless images of themselves as a young couple that they can return to whenever they need a reminder of where they came from.

Photog friends: My advice to you: Always take care of your vendors. We need to work for each other, and offer to help in any way possible. You never know when a business relationship will turn kindred spirits into treasured friends!

Nikki, your words are so true. I met Erica at a yard sale several years ago right after she had opened her shop and since that time Black Creek Flowers and Sweets is my florist of choice. As a wedding planner and designer I have been fortunate to work together with Erica on nine weddings last year and several are planned for the upcoming year. She is truly talented, has an eye for detail, her presentation is stunning and the service she provides to her clients is truly wonderful! As a vendor, but more importantly as a friend, Erica is always willing to help me. She never delivers the flowers and leaves. She always touches base with me to make sure everyting is OK and to see if I need anything before she leaves. Without hesitation I encourage brides to contact Erica, her designs are young and inovative and most imporantly, no matter how many brides she has, she always makes you feel as though you are the only one, and that is a feeling you don’t get often.
