When I first started my journey in photography, I would photograph nearly every job I was approached with. Special events, birthday parties, business head shots, in addition to the usual weddings and portraiture. I wanted to soak up my art and have exposure to every situation possible. I’ve learned that while that was great when I was just getting started and learning my trade, as I and my business began to grow, it became time to narrow my focus.
I began to think about not just what I wanted to photograph, but the real why behind it. In the course of doing some soul searching and reevaluating in my heart of hearts, I realize that I believe in love. Real love. All consuming love. Love that I have been shown unconditionally and undeservingly by the gracious God I serve. And I’ve realized that’s my why, and that’s my specialty. Because I believe in love and family, I have chosen to serve couples as they prepare to marry the love of their life, and families, especially with small children (because y’all know dem babies has my heart!).
Choosing to specialize in something is beneficial to both the photographer and the client. Now that I have chosen a specialty, I can really focus and serve my couples and the families that I work with because I’m not all over the map. And honestly, those are the things that bring me the most joy. I’ve said it before, a happy photographer means happy clients, because lets face it, who wants to have a session with a grumpy photog?
Love these little ladies! Happy Weekend, y’all!
