“Walk through this world with me, go where I go. Share all my dreams with me, I need you so. In life we search and some of us find. I’ve looked for you a long, long time. And now that I’ve found you, new horizons I see. Come take my hand, and walk through this world with me?” -George Jones
The music filled the cathedral last Saturday as Mary Mason & Matt made promises to one another, a covenant of marriage we were lucky enough to witness. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have ever been blessed to be a part of. Between the performance of this song by Mary Mason’s daddy and brother, to the letters written to one another that were read aloud for the first time during the ceremony, it was truly emotional, honest, and full of love.
In Matt’s letter, he described Mary Mason as a captivating woman with a heart devoted to serving and loving others. Mary Mason admitted to falling in love with Matt (despite their difference in musical taste and literature) because of how he has loved her and encouraged her so unconditionally. They couldn’t be more perfect for one another.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Boaz!
All the reasons why I love a First Look are wrapped up in this image. Mary Mason & Matt were both so anxious to see one another, after waiting what seemed like a lifetime for this moment. As soon as Mary Mason called Matt’s name and he turned around, a wave of peace washed over both of them. They couldn’t help but reach for each other, pull themselves close, and hold one another with everything they had. This is what I love about a First Look. The organic, honest, joyful emotion that overcomes a couple when they see each other for the first time. You can see it in the way Matt is embracing Mary Mason. Like he said in the letter, he’s captivated by everything that she is. And in that Watter’s gown, how could he not be!
