Nestled in the heart of Virginia’s equestrian country, The Goodstone Inn beckoned as Kate and Jared started planning their wedding weekend. Middleburg held a special place in the couple’s heart, particularly Kate, who had lived there during the summer seasons as a competing professional equestrian.

It was evident that Kate & Jared shared a deep appreciation for the outdoors, every detail from their wedding was meticulously chosen to weave a narrative of bringing nature into their design aesthetic, creating a timeless elegance and natural beauty.

The couple opted for minimal florals, allowing the greenery of The Goodstone Inn to take center stage, especially against the backdrop of the ivy wall where their vows were exchanged. Crisp white Chiavari chairs and strategically placed roses maintained an elegant look, allowing the lush surroundings to play a pivotal role.

For the wedding party, an air of sophistication enveloped the groomsmen and bridesmaids, donned in classic black suits and floor-length gowns. Jared’s custom dark green three-piece suit, fox head cufflinks, and Gucci tie paid homage to Virginia’s hunt country. 

There were so many details to capture from their wedding day. From the flowing Monique Lhuillier gown to the locally sourced bouquet of peonies, ranunculus, roses, and anemones.

Positioned strategically around the ivy wall ceremony space, the chic garden party inspired cocktail hour became a visual feast with views overlooking the pool and the expansive property. 

The sailcloth tent for the reception, nestled in the lush greenery landscape, transformed the reception dinner into a secret garden celebration. Kate opted for alternating linens, with half of the tables featuring a clean white linen, and half of the tables with a fun greenery pattern,creating a balance so that nothing felt too washed out, or too pattern-heavy. She kept their glassware simple, and added black flatware for contrast. 

Candles were added for romance, and florals were minimal. Intentionally selecting mixed varieties of greenery and white florals, not to distract from the venue’s natural appeal. 

Everyone received a horseshoe cookie at their seat, as an ode to Kate’s equestrian background. There were so many personal touches, including the printed bar napkins featuring a custom drawing of their German Shepherd rescue dog, Lyra, who they included in their ceremony as well. 

Kate and Jared danced the night away at the late night party, where they had one final sweet surprise – an ice cream cart filled with mochi – their favorite dessert. 

As the sun set over The Goodstone Inn, casting its golden glow on the celebration, I reveled in the beauty of a day that seamlessly blended nature, romance, and shared history. The Goodstone Inn became more than a venue—it became the center of emotions, connections, and the enduring spirit of a couple’s love story.
