I must say, of all the cyber places you could have ended up, i’m certainly glad you chose to be here. Viewing my site is best accompanied by your choice of beverage; i recommend sweet tea, hazelnut macchiato, or prosecco. That, and 80's music, preferably from the breakfast club soundtrack.

Ten of the Best East Coast Wedding Venues

August 25, 2023

Selected by a Luxury Film Wedding Photographer.

There is no shortage of beautiful East Coast Wedding Venues, but narrowing down your options can feel overwhelming. Your choice of venue will set the tone and mood for your wedding day.

Which is why it is essential to find a wedding venue that reflects your personal style, can accommodate your guests and will be the perfect setting for your wedding day.

Before you dive right into finding your perfect East Coast Wedding Venue, I would advise you to set some time aside to define your personal style and aesthetic. There is no point in choosing a modern rustic style barn, with breathtaking mountain views, if your aesthetic is an uptown swanky hotel.

No matter how much you invest in flowers and decor your venue’s decor and location will ultimately determine the experience you are able to provide your guests.

It is absolutely vital that you research wedding venues that match your style, guest count and overall mood or feeling you want to create for your guests.

Don’t just think about the wedding day itself – if you want to have a wedding weekend, make sure you choose a venue that can accommodate all of your desires. It will be so relaxing to arrive at a wedding venue and enjoy a rehearsal dinner with your closest friends and family and a lovely brunch the morning after your wedding.

When shortlisting and visiting East Coast Wedding Venues, be sure to consider all the different locations that will be used throughout your wedding day – for example the ceremony site (what does their plan B for bad weather look like, would you be happy with this), the location for your cocktail hour, does it provide breathtaking views or a comfortable setting for your guests?

These details as well as how much accommodation the venue offers for out of town guests should all play a vital role in choosing the right wedding venue for you!

To save you a little time, I have carefully curated ten of my favorite east coast wedding venues:

Best Charlottesville Wedding Venues:

  1. Pippin Hill

Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard is a wedding venue located in North Garden, VA. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this property is a romantic destination for an unforgettable wedding celebration.

One of our favorite details about Pippin Hill has to be the abundant explosion of beautiful, delicate hydrangea that blooms every year towards the beginning of summer. This feature, whether in full bloom or luscious and green, makes the perfect backdrop for your guests as they enter the venue (not to mention the gorgeous portrait shots we could do here).

2. The Clifton Inn

The Clifton is an Iconic wedding venue in Charlottesville, Virginia. With historic charm, breathtaking views and modern yet elegant sophistication, The Clifton is perfect for a relaxing, weekend-long celebration. Distinguished by impeccable service, lush surroundings and exceptional cuisine, The Clifton has become one of the most desired wedding venues in Virginia.

One of our favorite details about The Clifton has to be the grand colonial architecture, not to mention, the lush foliage and flourishing secret gardens dotted throughout the property – making it the perfect backdrop for laid-back, honest moments between couples and their guests.

3. Keswick Hall

Keswick Hall is an icon in the Virginia countryside, and a popular wedding venue for a large, luxurious affair. Kewsick hall is the perfect location if you would prefer to relax and unwind before your wedding day, with tranquil onsite spa facilities and one of the best golf courses in the country.

The garden room – with it’s artisan crafted dried botanicals and floor to ceiling windows is the perfect setting for your rehearsal dinner, allowing you to enjoy intimate moments with your loved ones leading up to your dream wedding day.

On the day of your wedding, we can escape into the lush gardens for a few moments, for you and your partner to connect and enjoy the sunset overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.

4. Winterthur Museum & Country Estate

Escape the busy world and be transported back in time to this historic Museum & Country Estate. Surrounded by enchanted woodlands, rolling meadows and a 60-acre garden, Winterthur Museum & Country Estate is the perfect setting for a romantic wedding retreat.

Your guests can mingle around the reflecting pool while enjoying the breathtaking views. We can quietly slip away for a few moments and get lost in the surrounding ancient woodlands.

As a fine art wedding photographer, I could not ask for more gorgeous natural light, with floor to ceiling windows in the reception atrium and glass walls that overlook the pond at the Visitor Center Pavilion where your reception can be held.

5. Castle Hill Inn, Rhode Island

This historical 19th century wedding venue, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is a charming setting for an al-fresco dining and dancing experience by the sea.

This quintessential property sits at the westernmost point of Aquidneck Island, and offers majestic views of Narragansett Bay.

I love recommending this venue to clients who want to create a weekend-long celebration, where you can truly unplug and enjoy the lead up to your wedding with the people you love the most in this idyllic location. My team and I can be there to capture your rehearsal dinner and all the intimate moments leading up to your wedding day.

6. Oheka Castle, NY

Feel as if you have been transported to Europe, as you enjoy America’s grandest castle right in the heart of Huntington, New York.

Beautifully preserved, this wedding venue has a treasure-trove of beautifully restored details and architectural grandeur. Just imagine walking down the grand staircase leading to the ballroom, as you prepare to dance the night away just as they did in the Gilded Age of the 1920s.

7. Inn at Perry Cabin

Inn at Perry Cabin is a storybook setting for intimate ceremonies and vast celebrations. Nestled on the banks of the Miles River, the Inn offers a surprising number of unique spaces for ceremonies, receptions, and honeymoons.

The Inn at Perry Cabin encompasses genuine hospitality with a strong sense of nautical heritage allowing for an authentic Chesapeake Bay wedding experience. Choose to extend your celebration and enjoy a relaxing weekend with your closest friends and family.

8. Montage, Palmetto Bluff

Celebrate your love along the May River, Montage Palmetto Bluff is an unparalleled coastal wedding venue in South Carolina that exudes a classic southern charm.

Whether you dream of getting married under a centuries old oak tree, surrounded by lush green foliage or the charming May River chapel, overlooking the water and salt marshes, there is no shortage of beauty at this wedding venue.

We will be spoilt for choice, with so many idyllic portrait locations, including the Boat House where we can capture the sunset and watch the tides roll in before heading back to your guests.

9. The Biltmore

This distinctive 8000 acre estate in Asheville, North Carolina overlooks the majestic Blue Mountains, and is poised to welcome your family and friends for an opulent wedding experience.

Whether you choose to throw a grandiose celebration at Biltmore House and Gardens or prefer to have a quiet intimate gathering with those you love the most at the Inn on Biltmore Estate – one thing is for sure, you will have breathtaking photos with the estate’s dramatic backdrop.

10. Lowdnes Grove

Soak up the panoramic views along the Ashley River, engulfed by 14 acres of live oak groves and sprawling lawn. You and your guests can relax and unwind in the refined 1786-era architecture of the Main house, surrounded by period furniture and sunlit terraces made of bluestone, brick and oyster tabby.

This lovingly restored wedding venue is the perfect location for you to celebrate your wedding day with family and friends. One thing we absolutely love about this location is the weathered wooden pier leading to the river, where you can pause for a brief moment with your partner, to soak up events of the day, before returning to dance the night away.

Need some chic alternative locations for your rehearsal dinner or after parties. I would highly recommend Hotel Bennett, Emeline, and the Dewberry in Charleston. I absolutely love documenting the joy and love leading up to your wedding day, and offer this as an additional feature to your wedding experience.

Finding the perfect venue for your East Coast wedding is really important.

Take your time and research the best location and venue for your needs.

Once you have decided on your East Coast Wedding Venue the next step is to book your wedding photographer. If you have decided on a wedding photographer, you might want to check that they are available for your wedding date before confirming your venue booking, to make sure you have the right photographer to document your love story.
